About me

I am a PhD student in the Systems Bioinformatics group at the VU University. I obtained my bachelor in Life Science & Technology in 2013 at Delft University of Technology and Leiden University. In 2016 I obtained my master Life Science & Technology, with the specializations Cell Factory and Biochemical Engineering.

Currently I am working within the STW project “Selection of microbial cells with increased product-yield for industrial fermentations”. In this project we want to develop a generic screening platform that allows for selection of organisms that have an increased yield of an extracellular product. To be able to identify mutants that excrete more of a particular product we will use water-in-oil emulsions, in which each water droplet typically contains one cell. Sensors for the products will be developed to be able to screen the droplets and identify microbial cells with increased product-yield.
