I am working with Herwig, Simone and Daniël on the EVOGOLD project. I’m 32 years old and originally from Den Bosch (my father is from Suriname, hence the nice last name), but I have studied (Delft, Leiden, Lund, Gothenburg), and worked (Wageningen, Stockholm) in many places. Before starting here, I worked as a postdoc at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in the Department of Industrial Biotechnology, where I studied an industrially relevant strictly anaerobic thermophilic bacterium called Acetivibrio thermocellus (or Clostridium thermocellum), which was very close to what I did during my PhD in Wageningen. Therefore, I am very excited to start working on something completely different here in Amsterdam. Besides (micro)biology, I am very much interested in history, geography, fantasy/sci-fi, and (visiting) the Nordic countries.
